Pimco in-house debate
Have we finally reached the "Minsky" moment? There is an interesting in-house macroeconomic debate between Pimco's Co-Chief investment officers. Yeah, Pimco that bond-fund powerhouse with a mere $2 trillion of assets under management. Contrast Pimco founder Bill Gross's cautious optimism with Pimco CEO Mohamed El-Erian's pessimism. Both are economic heavy-hitters -- Gross has long been regarded as the Bond King, while El-Erian was manager of the highly successful Harvard endowment fund. The current investment climate has financial advisors scratching their heads, and opinions are all over the map. Best advice is to go for singles and doubles, instead of swinging for the fences. I favor a broadly diversified portfolio featuring mutual funds with best-of-breed managers combined with low-cost exchange-traded funds (ETFs). I like this site which gives unique perspectives on the best mutual fund managers, and ETFs: http://fundmojo.com/
